But look what happened. Look what happened when experienced developers decided to go with their gut feelings instead of listening to analysis done by folks with no idea how the industry works, especially when it comes to what gamers really want. Read Dead Redemption has old over 13 million units since it launched back on May 18th, 2010. Such a massive failure.
“We loved Niko and felt he was a very strong lead protagonist for a game, and we were starting to get into John Marston,” said Rockstar vice president Dan Houser while discussing Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5.
“We were still being told a western was going to be a disaster, but we thought we were going [to] make something interesting with a strong character that you started to fall in love with.”
In February 2012, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive announced that Red Dead Redemption had sold 13m copies.

Thank god they went”t with their guts, the game was really good.
More game companies should go with their gut instinct more often.
why would a westerner be a disaster?
red dead revolver and gun were actually quite popular games, so the notion that no one would be interested in a westerner is just ridiculous!
as this proved done well theres plenty interest in the genre!
i hope we see a sequel soon, its still by far the best game R* has done this gen!
