Thirsty Conversations: Do You Believe Call Of Duty Will Dominate The Next Generation?

Call of Duty_Black Ops 2

Without a doubt, Activision’s Call of Duty has been the most dominant franchise this generation, and it brought along for the ride the FPS genre. But with every new generation, a new franchise and genre take hold and never let go until the next gen comes about. Do you believe Call of Duty’s reign as king will follow it into the eighth generation of consoles?

Let’s talk. Do It Here: The Official Games Thirst Opinion Hall.

Will it be good? Hopefully, god-damn yes. The trailers looks great. The new launch trailer looks like they tried to make up for Activision making the shitty MW3 campaign and it’s very awesome. The multiplayer looks balanced. Elite is free. Zombies is going to be great.

Will it be the best in the generation? Hopefully not because there are just so many games that people that have not tried yet that are very awesome. Maybe AC3 will be the game of the generation.

Bro, I think Black Ops 2 will be the best COD this gen. Hands down.

Best COD? Yes that is true. But best game this gen? No way mate. My friend just gave me Uncharted Golden Abyss (I know it has no relationship with FPSs) and it is just awesome! Not shooting awesome, but the story is just epic! Hopefully I can say the same for COD because I just know so many games that are coming out that will have great stories. Such as AC3, Sly Cooper 4, AC3 Liberation, and many more.

Black Ops 2 is not the best game this gen, but the best COD. That’s for sure.

For the sake of the gaming industry as a whole I hope it does not dominate next gen. COD has all but killed true innovation this gen. Everyone wants to make a COD clone to grab the audience that makes each COD launch the “biggest entertainment launch in history”. Millions of gamers throw money at this game and pretty much ignore anything else that comes out. Many studios have crumbled due to these fans who refuse to throw their support behind any game that isnt a FPS named COD. People will disagree with me, but look at the sales numbers and tell me I am wrong. New Ips failed left and right this gen, and not because they suck, and not because they were poorly made, but because all people want to do is play “deathmatch” or fall down a nuclear strike in COD. Before I get called a hater, I would like to say that I have played each COD this gen so I’m not just blindly hating. I’m just concerned that WE as gamers are letting an obsession slowly choke off the creativity of awesome studios due to the COD machine. By all means love COD and support it with you dollars, but learn to hit eject and pop in another game. Support other studio/companies who put just as much blood, sweat, and tears into their games as Infinity Ward and Treyarch. This concludes my rant…and yes I have BLOPS 2 on preorder. Just like I had Kingdoms of Amalur, Dishonored, Borderlands 2, Sorcery, and Sleeping Dogs. Supporting the little guys!

@Narwall: bro, give up the COD Vita rant.

what ever dude if it makes you happy.

  11. Ernice Gilbert October 17, 2012 at 11:33 pm -

Alright sir. Whatever makes you happy. Lol, you’re something else.

Dude narwall suck it up, shut the fuck up and stop complaining. You don’t like the game? Well no problem, don’t buy it. You think that no good games are going to come to the Vita? Well sell your Vita because you have no eyes to see the games that will come out. Complaining will bring nothing good out of it if you will complain for something small. Why do you think that the Vita is still failing? It’s because people like you think that there are only 1-2 games for the Vita. BUY OTHER GAMES IF YOU HAVE COD DECLASSIFIED. And we still haven’t seen it yet so don’t rant about it. One more thing this is the Vita’s first year, give it some time and wait, you shall see 12vs12 multiplayer. Also sorry for cursing at you. :3

Here, cute gif to make you feel better:

well tgod that was uncalled for i was just joking you on the other hand. nvm

  14. nick October 18, 2012 at 5:41 am -

    of course it will!
until something comes out and steals its crown, the reason why so many play it for months on end, which i doubt will ever happen.
no one has nailed down such a addictive compelling MP.
name helps, but its the uniqueness and variety the MP offers that has made the series the seller it is.
BTW speaking of COD declasified, looks like nihilistic is finally throwing in the towel.
    oh how sad!

  15. Ernice Gilbert October 18, 2012 at 6:16 am -

Wow, so they’re saying in a smart way that the studio itself is shutting down. That’s sad. So only mobile games from the “new” team. What in the world is going on in this industry.

  16. TheGrimOfDeath October 18, 2012 at 6:22 am -

@ Ernice and Nick: What does them changing fro retail to digital actually do?

  17. Ernice Gilbert October 18, 2012 at 6:24 am -

They won’t make boxed games like COD and others anymore. Instead they’ll focus on mobile and downloadable titles.

  18. nick October 18, 2012 at 7:08 am -

mobile only by the looks of it.
looks like they have finally realized there not exactly living up to the expectations of console titles.
but there in for a rude shock if they think IOS is any easier!
its amazing how far mobile gaming has come in the past few years!
gone from the basic simple snake and tetris, to freaking modern combat 4!
    god that looks amazing!
