Pachter says industry decline will continue until PS4, X720

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter claims that the PS4 and X720 will save the industry, and that Sony’s new console will launch before Microsoft’s nextBox.

His statements follow:

“We expect October – December to be relatively flat, and expect a return to negative territory again next year, at least until the launch of a next-generation console from Microsoft or Sony.

A new console cycle is likely to reverse the negative sales trends of the last several years, with next-generation consoles expected from each of the three manufacturers over the next 18 months.

Nintendo will launch the Wii U on November 18, and, while neither Sony nor Microsoft has yet announced new hardware, we expect a PS4 no later than November 2013, and a next Xbox no later than March 2014.

We believe that the publishers plan an unprecedented number of new games for launch in the first two years of the next generation, providing relief from the gamer fatigue we’ve seen over the last three years.”

All this comes prior to the NPD releasing yearly market figures, which are expected to look bad. What’s your take on the matter?

for once the guys not spewing shit!
nice to see for a change……
hopefully we do see next gen systems soon, the industry is REALLY starting to stagnate!
both in technology and features, but also in genres and creativity in developers.
its just seemed developers have lost their drive to strive for something different, they just want to use the photocopier at 105% until next gen systems out till they pull out their creative pencils again.
