Yoshida Surprised By The Lack Of Third-Party Support For Vita

Sony was expecting third-party developers to be standing in line to develop games for PS Vita, but as Worldwide Studios President for Sony Shuhei Yoshida found, things turned out to be quite the opposite.

Yoshida expressed his disappoint with the situation in an interview with Gamasutra, but gave hope for the console’s down-the-road prospects:

“As we can expand our install base and articulate what works really well on the platform as compared to others, it will get easier for us to be able get support from third parties,” he said

Yoshida didn’t play down the impact of social and mobile games either, adding: “There are limited resources that third party publishers have, and they have to diversify into new areas constantly; that’s a challenge to get the support that we want.”

Yoshida concluded by making clear that PS Vita offers the most immersive experience to portable gaming.

just goes to show how arrogant $ony really are!
were the great $ony, every sheep and his dog will be lining up around the barn to be associated with us kings!
pretty obvious the vita was going to struggle, especially when the device is so expensive and has such low first party support to begin with!
the vita was never going to have it easy, so $ony really needed to carry their weight more so than usual, and as usual, just like the PSP, they have let it down.
they keep putting their no name publishers on titles, i mean why the %^$# is nhillistic working on COD?
thats like hiring a 12 year old student to film the next LOTR!
come on, its COD for christs sake, surely we can do better than nhillistic!
it was really surprising to see GG working on KZ, that is what the vita really needs!
ps3 developers working with the vita!
big name developers working on big name games, not small name developers working on small name games.
this is one of those situations where you actually need to reveal things for the sake of revealing them, even if there a ways off!
normally that hurts the title, hurts the system, but if there is 1 thing that will drastically help the vita its some big name first party titles!
both in sequels, returns to old franchises, and new IPs.
show consumers there will be amazing experiences down the line, and they will be more than willing to pony up front.
then that will show third party publishers there will be a audience for them.
    ATM there is nothing.
$ony is giving no reason to buy the vita, so no one is buying it, so third party publishers are saying nope were not working with you because its going to cost us allot more than what we can see making back.
so in short to say were shocked at the lack of third party support for the vita, is oh i dunno, like saying im shocked my boss fired me after banging his wife, trashing his 3M dollar car, burning down his house, and bankrupting his company.
it was kinda obvious it was going to happen!

There are some big games coming up. Looking forward to them.

exactly the problem though, what little that is coming up is not exactly helping the system.
most first party titles are from unknown developers, and the rest, the few who have confidence in the vita is quickly dwindling.
vita really needs some big names behind it!
