Brand new games usually cost 60$, but Sony is here to change that. You can buy Dishonored, NBA 2k13, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and more for 54$. And not just that; for example, Doom 3 BFG Edition will cost 40$, but Sony can give it to you for 36$. But what’s the catch?
- It’s only available for digital downloads
- Pre-orders only
- Playstation Plus members only
That’s Sony’s “PSN Day 1 Digital” program, available to all, but giving discounts to PS Plus subscribers. Currently, not all games on offer have discounts – 007 Legends, Resident Evil 6, Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Assassin’s Creed III will be at 60$, but there from day one.
Sony has done this before, but with some games; Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, Warhawk and more. But this looks like it will have the majority of the new titles, available at launch – but we can hope for more intriguing offers. The developers will also love this move, since many of them have expressed their love for digital recently, and there’s no way to sell your copy back.
Is this a good move by Sony? Regardless, Playstation Plus shapes up to be an even better service, with more and more content and services being available over time.
