Medal of Honor: Warfighter gets exciting new details

You may have thought that Crysis or Battlefield would carry EA’s conference. For me, it was Warfighter, truly. With all the exciting new features EA announced for the game, I couldn’t help but have a grin of satisfaction on my face. It’s really shaping up to be a true Call of Duty opponent, but I couldn’t care less about that, as opposed to some. I don’t want Call of Duty to win or lose. I want Warfighter to succeed, and go head on with it. And, Danger Close with EA helped.

It was announced that Warfighter would be in Battlelog, and would also have its own meta-game, where countries “fight” each other for the top spot. That means, each player represents their country, and their gameplay nets their country points. You can understand where it goes from there on.

It’s also getting more than 70+ fire team combinations, with military units from across the globe appearing, for the first time in a shooter. You might say it’s not so special, but come to think of this: you’re probably living in the US, since Games Thirst is US-based, and mainly advertised there. You get to see the US marines in games all the time. I know our proud, Hellenic special forces won’t appear, but think of the other countries like Poland, Australia, Austria and more. They don’t see their units in the games they play very often, and to them, it means a lot.

There’s also a co-op mode, along with improved multiplayer modes, and the usual, gripping, realistic storyline that accompanies Medal of Honor games, all created with the impressive Frostbite 2 engine.

Are you excited? You should be, because from the new trailers, the game looked even more appealing. Will EA retake the FPS crown? Well, who holds it can be argued, with Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 on the scene. But will the gap retract with Warfighter’s release? Wait until October, and we shall see.
