DICE Canada is working on a Wii U version of Battlefield 4, according to an online report. The same report claims it will be a straight port.
Apparently, there was a Wii U version of Battlefield 3 under development at EA Canada, but because of a “feud regarding Origin’s integration on the Wii U”, it was subsequently cancelled.
The disagreement led to DICE’s Wii U team being merged with the Battlefield 4 team, which is “now working on the Battlefield 4 Wii U version concurrently with other editions”.
The Wii U Daily source also says it will be a “straight port” with touchscreen controls. Similar touchscreen controls will also be implemented on Xbox 360, using Microsoft’s new SmartGlass technology.
Battlefield 4 was announced last month after being leaked through EA’s online service, Origin. A multiplayer beta will be ready next fall before the game goes on sale on current and next generation platforms.
