You Can Complete Dishonored Without Killing A Soul

Don’t like using guns and machetes? Hate seeing the blood of ‘innocents’ piling the streets of Dunwall? No problem, Dishonored gives you the freedom to complete the game without killing a soul.

“Yes, you can complete the game without killing anyone, (It was a goal of ours.) And the world reflects that to some extent,” co-creative directors of Dishonored Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio said in a Q&A session on Reddit when asked if the game could be completed without shedding blood.

The producers also said that there were a number of ways in which this could be accomplished: “As players we’re always trying to do things we didn’t do last time. “Our programmers were all trying to do crazy weird variants this week. ‘The Falling Angel playthrough,’ where you only kill by using drop-assassination.”

There are trade offs for choosing the saintly route, however, like missing out on certain cool items and powers.

“You’ll miss the assassination anims and a couple of powers like Devouring Swarm and Shadow Kill,” Colantonio said. “But playing nonlethally (and with total stealth, on a higher difficulty) often forces very tense cool moments…sublime tension as my friend Randy Smith (from Thief) likes to say. So it’s a trade-off.”

Dishonored goes on sale early October for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I’ll definitely be doing this in my first play through. Having the option of not killing anyone is partially the reason why I loved Deus Ex: Human Revolution, getting Pacifist was definitely a feat. Hopefully though there will be some positive trade-offs too to playing a non-lethal character, like getting special items (like for not harvesting in Bioshock 1 & 2 gives special tonics).

hmmmmm, now that is going to be interesting!
you cant go through a whole game though without killing anyone!
come on slicing peoples heads clean off is half the fun in this game!

    @Nick: Sure You Can.

    —————-

@Reaper: what path did you choose in Bioshock…did you harvest the little sisters?

    —————————–

And did you actually accomplish this in Deus Ex?

  • nick

i dident say you cant, i said it spoils all the fun of the game!

@Ernice: I always chose the Savior route, I never harvested a little sister (in both Bioshock games). As for Deus Ex, yes, I did accomplish it, I actually got that as well as Legend, and Foxiest of the Hounds all in one play through.

@DarkReaper9: Wow! That’s just amazing man! What’s your PSN ID if you have one?

Go they way of a savior DarkReaper9 XD. I also finished both Bioshock and Bioshock 2 without harvesting any Little Sisters. Hope that Bioshock Infinite will still have the possibilities to play the game as a good or bad person. And for Dishonored I won’t kill anyone, I’m just too nice of a person.

@Ernice lol thanks! As for my PSN ID it’s DarkReaper9, and my Xbox live gamertag is Dark Reaper 9. I never get on my playstation though just so you know, I’m typically on my Xbox or Computer (Steam ftw!).

@Grim I’m the exact same way, I don’t think I could just kill people in real life so it just kinda transfers over to RPG-esque games. And I also hope they have that option for Bioshock Infinite.
