Thirsty Conversations: Man, Has Nintendo Been A Disappointment Or What?

nintendo logonew

A love relationship that started out fantastic but winded up dull because the person changed. He/she simply changed, found new love and gave no warning whatsoever.

That’s how I describe what’s happened to my relationship with Nintendo, once my most beloved gaming company of all time. The firm changed the game with NES and Super NES, and up until Game Cube Nintendo had my love, my attention and money.

But then it introduced Wii and left me behind, totally ignoring my desires and instead fishing new bait to a different crowd: the casual market. I’ve lost most of my love for Nintendo, love I don’t think will ever return.

Such a disappoint, wouldn’t you say?

Sound off!

i love the wii simply because it has done something the ps3 and 360 wont.
its actually kept the focus on game design and said to hell about flashy graphics!
i have had a HELL of allot more fun playing games like skyward sword, metroid other M, red steel 2, cursed mountain, the conduit, donkey kong country returns, ect, ect than i have had with allot of this gens games!
developers these days are too huffed up on trying to imitate hollywood!
which is good for some games, some need it where others dont.
not every game needs to be a michael bay film, i just wish developers would understand that!

    put it this way.
if you said i could have a wii and skyward sword for 50 minutes, or i could have a ps3 and 360 and 1 ps3 and 360 exclusive for the rest of my life, id choose skyward sword!
nothing has given me as much fun and enjoyment and even emotional storytelling than that!

Wow, that’s sad, your last comment. You’d forego all the great PS3 and 360 games just for Skyward? You can’t be serious!

Ernice dont get him started! he’ll start to go on about cant you read and stop putting words in my mouth lol
he said 50 mins of that game or a lifetime of 1 ps3 exclusive. But still yeah that is pretty sad, but hey your never ever gonna get a unbiased opinion who has that as your avatar are you.
As much as i dont like nintendo and never have, ( i was always a master system and megadrive man than a nes and snes) You cannot deny their sales figures, the amount of Wii’s they have shifted are just epic, although the vast majority will have come from middle aged people having a mid life crisis and trying to get a grip of the 21st century thinking buying a Wii and Wii fit will keep you healthy and in touch with today. I bet most Wii’s in the west are now gatherring dust but still im sure they exceded their predicted profits from it.
But not to sound contradicting, Ernice i am def with you on this one, Nintendo has done nothing for me and never will.

I think Nintendo has been a disappointment to all the non-fanboy Nintendo fans. The Wii was a nice gamble that paid off big time for the company, but in my opinion, left the REAL Nintendo fans in dust. Outside of the few time honored Nintendo franchises, the Wii was shovelware central. To me,the ignoring of the gamers for mom and grandma was wrong.

    absolutely i would!
as i said no ps3 or 360 game has delivered what skyward sword has.
fun gameplay, gripping story, great enemy variety, varying level design, really cleverly thought out puzzles.
most games these days are jack of all trades master of none.
IE they do one thing really well but as a overall package there fairly meh.
skyward sword though is one of the very few games that actually did everything extremely well!
not perfect, but certainly the closest weve seen!
