Black Ops II Will Come Ready With Dedicated Servers On PC

Ranked dedicated servers is what PC fans of Call of Duty have been requesting for multiple years without avail. Good news: fans can now rest easy as Treyarch’s confirmed that Black Ops II will indeed feature ranked dedicated servers.

“Confirmed: Ranked Dedicated Servers for #BlackOps2,” tweeted Treyarch’s director of technology. He also confirmed bonuses for all Steam preorders of the game, although he didn’t detail the items therein.

“I can confirm that there will be a bonus for all Steam preorders but it is not announced yet,” he said.

Although Modern Warfare 3 included dedicated servers, they weren’t ranked. This, however, should be good news to PC fans.

Thanks, GI.

That sounds great PC gamers are finally getting some recognition. They should have done this earlier. Although I wish there were dedicated servers on the PS3 and XBox360.

yes, but will it actually work on release?
no point having dedicated servers if its like every COD game since 4, ie so poorly optimized on PC even if you have a freaking nasa supercomputer you wont be able to play it above 10FPS!
i remember i was at a friends house that day he had the day off work and just recently bought a new top of the line alienware gaming rig and was struggling to get above 10 frames for crying out loud!
even lowering the settings and resolution would not help.
i had the same problem with MW2.
so yea, whats the point of having dedicated servers when the game wont run over 10FPS!?
might as well take a V8 out of your car, replace it with a V10 than sit a semi trailer on top of it!
not exactly going to make it any faster……….
