Naughty Dog learnt at E3 2012 that there was some confusion going around the show concerning The Last Of Us’ main protagonist Ellie, and Ellen Page, the Academy Award-nominee who’s starring in Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls. Because of this, the developer’s announced that it’ll make some changes to ensure The Last Of Us ‘Ellie’ stand on her own two feet.
Ostensibly, when Naughty Dog was creating the character Ellie for The Last of Us, they didn’t know that the “Juno” actress would appear in Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls. So when Quantic Dream showed their latest game on Monday at Sony’s presser, they started to worry that gamers might get the two games mixed up, especially if The Last Of Us’ Ellie looks like the actress Ellen Page.
According to The Last Of Us director Bruce Straley, the Ellie character wasn’t even base off of Ellen Page. He described her as “a bit younger” and closer to someone like actress Ashley Johnson.
Straley added that in order to avoid confusion, they’ll make a few changes to Ellie because “We want our characters to stand on their own two feet.”
