Sony Computer Entertainment Of America has filed for a patent that shows software designed to interrupt gameplay sessions with advertisements.
The patent was filed back in July of 2011, and is titled “Advertisement Scheme for use with interactive content.”
In essence, the patent warns players that gameplay is about to be interrupted with an ad, and once the ad is over, the gaming session will be continued. There’s an example accompanying the patent that shows a soda advert stopping gameplay.
You can also rewind the game again once the advert is over according to the patent, and we’re assuming that’s especially when you’re interrupted at a critical point of a game.
This latest patent is a continuation of a patent filed back in 2006, but don’t fret just yet, it’s just a patent, one that might never come to fruition.
