PS Vita Sells 1.8 Million

Sony’s announced that its latest portable console PS Vita has sold 1.8 million units globally.

“About Vita, the last year, [we sold] 1.8 million units for US, Japan, Asia and Europe,” Sony CEO Kaz Hirai confirmed in an investors call this morning.

“And as a starting phase, I think it was a good start,” he added.

Back in February, Sony announced that Vita had sold 1.2 million units, so this means about 600,000 units were sold in March before the end of the financial year on March 31st.

PS Vita has been creeping upwards as of recent in Japan, a trend that seems to be trickling into the West.

    good old $ony, only you could try to convince people a out house is the taj mahall!
    sorry $ony but that is just NOT true!
    the ps3 released at 600 bucks depending where you live, we got the slog at 1000!
    with so few games.
    and had so much strong competition.
    not to mention 3 years after release it was still regularly struggling with inferior ports.
    hell, still is!
    and it sold ONLY .1Mless!
    1.7M instead of 1.8!
    now the vita releases at a high but not outrageous price like the ps3, with HEAPS of titles unlike the ps3!
    heaps of accessories, heaps of third party titles.
    every problem the ps3 had the vita has not had, and its only done .1M better!
    hows that “off to a good start”?
    sigh, will $ony ever be honest with their fans?
    once just once id like to see $ony be honest about something!
    not be the politician and put a spin on it.
    i dont like people shitting in my hand and telling me its home made chocolate!

    I believe the console will catch up. Just give it some time. A price cut would help, but Sony probably cannot afford it.

    it certainly will catch up eventually.
    i always said it will be like the ps3, it will struggle drag through the mud but eventually wade through it all.
    just nothing that pisses me off more then when a company treats their fans like they were born yesterday!
    have some respect for those that feed you!
