Jesus Christ wasn’t the only one who raised people from the dead, as today OpCapita has confirmed that it’s bought GAME UK, saving 3,200 jobs in the process. The buyout includes all 333 GAME and Gamestation stores.
After paying off £85 million in debt, GAME was bought for £1.
“We are pleased to have reached agreement with the Administrator. We strongly believe there is a place on the high street for a video gaming specialist and GAME is the leading brand in a £2.8 billion market in the UK,” said OpCapita managing partner Henry Jackson.
“We have assembled a strong team of experienced industry operators to implement the programme of operational change that is needed. There is a huge amount to do but we look forward to the challenge of restoring GAME’s fortunes in partnership with its employees and suppliers.”
GAME was already dead, but it’s been resurrected. Now that’s an uplifting story on a Monday morning.

retailers are bleeding money ATM because in one shopping mall theres 100 stores selling the same thing!
thats one thing that really bugs me, ive got 4 local shopping centres near me and ZERO of them sell games!
further then those theres heaps of centres that sell them, parra for example has EB, game, JBHIFI,dick smith electronics, blockbuster, kmart, target, bigW, toys R us, harvey norman, bing lee, gametraders, ezy DVD, myer, david jones, and last but not least gamerhead.
wow…… no wonder retailers are doing poorly!
wouldent it be common sense to take some of those stores and put them in centres that dont have any game stores?
i dunno, i just wonder at times if anyone left on this planet has any logic left!
