According to IGN’s review of Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden 3, no one on planet earth should even consider buying the game.
The website scored the game 3/10, saying in its closing statement: “Ninja Gaiden 3 is a gash on the face of the franchise and one of the worst games the action genre has yet suffered. It has no consideration for its fans’ wants or what a new audience may have enjoyed. It’s a nightmare that’s as easy as it is uninteresting, and it abandons what used to work for awful new ideas that don’t work together. Under no circumstance should you ever waste your time on this self-indulgent and abysmal wreck.”

Taking IGN seriously is as bad as… taking IGN seriously.
I actually believe this. The game only has one weapon that you cannot upgrade, it is much easier, your health regenerates, ninpo is use it or loose it, NO dismemberment, repetitive bosses, and continuous quick time events. They ruined the series that I love so much. I am renting this game, but I am pretty much done with the series. I knew it was going to bad when Tomonobu Itagaki left, but I did not expect this.
Hmm, you might be right then. But judging from a lot of recent IGN reviews, I see that the reviewers downgrade and trash-talk a game simply because it’s not what they like. “I don’t like dubstep, it fits, but I don’t like it. 3/10 at sound”. Something similar to this.
I think the 3 is a little to low, but I think that is coming from a big fan of the franchise. It probably deserves a higher score than that, but no where near the rest of the franchise.
That’s fair. When I see “3/10″ I think:
- Buggy as hell
- Nonsensical plot and awful pacing
- Sound cutting off, bad music quality, bad voice acting
- Bad graphics
- Awful controls
And I think that it’s nowhere near that.
yeah, i agree. Most other places are giving it a 7 or 8. I think this guy was just really pissed that they changed so much about the franchise. I can relate to him on that, but he should not have let it influence his score that much.

a 6 maybe, but ill eat my hat if i come back and say yea its worth a 3 once ive finished it!
im really getting sick of seeing my favourite franchises watered down like this!
ME3, this, uncharted 3, DMC4, so many awesome games out there spoiled by developers wanting to appeal to a wider market.
makes me want to throw in the towel and seek employment elsewhere because theres no way id be able to do it!
id sooner end up in jail for assault then whore out a beloved franchise like this!
