How Would You Feel If You Were One Point Away From A Major Cash In?

One point that was now unattainable. Terrible, right? Well that’s how Obsidian devs are feeling now, because they were promised some pretty bonuses if Fallout: New Vegas managed to score a metacritic of 85. It did 84.

The game had sold 5 million copies by the end of 2010, but because of that one point less, Bethesda denied them pay.

“FNV was a straight payment, no royalties, only a bonus if we got an 85+ on Metacritic, which we didn’t,” said developer Chris Avellone via twitter.

This comes as the firm laid off 30 employees following the cancellation of a next gen, announced project which was said to be funded by Microsoft.

Sux monkey balls that Obsidian gets no royalties based off of the idiots on metacritic. While, New Vegas was a buggy mess on PS3, I still think its booty that they dont get the royalties. Bad deal on the part of Obsidian.
