Call Of Duty To See “Meaningful Innovation” This Year

Black Ops 2

The next Call of Duty, or Iron Wolf as it’s called, will see “meaningful innovation” this year, according to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg. Could this mean the game will be built on a new engine? Exciting times, if that’s the case.

Hirshberg shared the news in an Activision investor call when he announced that there would indeed be another COD title incoming in 2012, to no one’s surprise. He also said they were currently working on Call Of Duty Elite 2.0. with new features and innovation. The new features will start dropping in the next 60 days, Hirshberg noted.

“This year, we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand,” said Hirshberg.

“From what we’ve seen the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovation to the franchise. I could not be more excited.”

He added: “We’re already hard at work on Elite 2.0 with several innovative features being developed to work hand in hand with our next Call of Duty release.”
