Microsoft Sounds Rather Arrogant In Its New “Response”

Microsoft has responded to Sony’s claim that PS3 “won” the horse race in Australia in 2011, and has sent out a rather arrogant-toned response to the press.

“It’s clear to see that the momentum in this industry is with Microsoft and the Xbox platform. We won at the telling Christmas period, we are standalone in our growth this year and looking at the past five years our consistency is unprecedented,” said MS consumer channels group director David McLean.

He continued, arguing that Microsoft platforms were the only ones to see year-on-year growth in Australia, boasting a 5 percent increase in revenue across software, hardware and peripherals, while Sony’s growth came only from the PlayStation 3 and its software and accessories.

Mc Lean didn’t stop there, he said 2011 marked the fifth consecutive year that Xbox 360 has seen an increase in revenue and, apparently, was the only console to do so.

don’t know why they are so hostile for. i mean sony is basically beating everywhere else the world in console hardware except for america. why should they feel threatened. sounds more like their bitter if anything. and actually if wan’t to be technical about it the PlayStation hardware and software is what is actually keeping sony alive, since that’s the only department actually generating money.

Agreed with you, Ghost. Don’t know why all the arrogance from MS here. And yeah, PlayStation is keeping Sony alive. They need to make their other business profitable.

David McLean obviously had a bad day; got up, his mum forgot to warm up his milk, she put cheese in his sandwiches for lunch (David McLean dosent like cheese), and left his favourite teddy bear on the bus:( Poor David McLean he just needs To grow up.

@Ghost you really need to do some research. Sony is a huge company with departments everywhere. For you to say that a 30 billion dollar company is being kept alive by video games alone is insane. Sony makes Resident Evil movies which makes tons and tons of money. So does Underworld and every other movie Sony has made in the last 10 years. The only department under Sony is hurting is the TV business. You forget Sony owns the second largest music catalog in the world. Sony owns the biggest movie catalog in the world. Do some research.

you should take your own advice bub.
the TV market is most certainly not the only market $ony is suffering in!
its probably the worst there, but their vio sales are lower then ever!
there getting their a$$ kicked in the HIFI, car stereo, mobile devices, and audio areas too.
hell, $ony central has been having massive sales, up to 40% off on all vio notebooks!
in the 8 years they have been there NEVER have they had such big sales, and never consecutively!
they normally have one at the start of the year, or before chrissy but never one after another after another like its been the past few months.
hell a friend of mine just bought a new 3D vio yesterday which was marked down from 3500 to 1500!
ive NEVER seen a vio on sale for 500 off, let alone 1000 off, let alone 1500 off, let alone 2K!
hell, ive never seen a laptop full stop no matter which brand on sale 2K off!
$ony is hurting in every department they have, there putting more resources into it then there getting out of them.
not to mention the damage they suffered from the tsunamis that struck them last year damaging buildings and more costly shutting down bluray production for weeks!

@mygosssip565 no you should do your research, last time i checked movies cost millions dollars to make, so say if a movie sales good most time they only get about a quarter of that money back, so really when think about they’re barely making profit. and dont even get into music issues with me, in case you forgot sony would have to pay the artist, producers, pay for studio time, marketing, distribution, etc. with all that being said how much money you think they get back especially when the music industry is most pirated form of entertainment ever, you honestly think that sony is rolling in dough, no didn’t think so. if you did research you would know that PlayStation department is what is generating most of their profit. like really know what your talking and you do some research before type Bullsh*t.
