Nintendo Looking To Change Wii U’s Name – Rumor

wii uboom1

Wii U’s not good enough, apparently. That’s according to CVG, sending live a touchy Nintendo rumor, claiming it’s gotten insider information that the firm’s looking to rename Wii U.

The renaming is being considered because internal Nintendo data suggest that gamers had problems differentiating between DS and 3DS as two truly different systems – apparently many thought the 3DS to be some sort of gimmick and not a true upgrade.

Nintendo’s launching the console at the end of this year, so it’d better act quickly on renaming. Whatever the decision is, though, we’ll know in June.

I think that it will help differentiate between the Wii U and the Wii.

It will also give nintendo a chance to give it a name that doesn’t sound ridiculous.

I agree with Mr. Garrett. New name would differentiate the two. However, I can see Nintendo keeping the Wii U moniker. Even though Wii sales are in the toilet, the name still carries weight. When folks hear “Wii” they think of the crappy ass and poopy…i mean “casual” games that captured peoples attention. Soccer Mom and Gramgramm hear Wii U and they are gonna remember how much fun they had loosing weight and playing shuffleboard. For this reason only I can see Wii U being the name that sticks. The name Wii U makes me think of Dave Chappelle’s comedy gold parody of R. Kelly…anyone remember “Pi$$ On You”! Ok I’m done ranting lol. But real talk…CHANGE THE NAME NINTENDO!!!

@Benzo: Agreed. I’m actually a bit excited about the thing.
