Naughty Dog used 30,000 poly character models for Uncharted 2 on PS3. On PS4, however, the venerable firm’s working on a game that requires 1 million poly character models. Did you get that? One million… I am official ready for PS4.
PSLS discovered a Naughty Dog job listing for a Character Artist which states: Prior professional experience with normal map extraction of human models for next-gen games.
The same listing also says that “this digital sculptor will be responsible for making million poly models game ready, and support highest-res characters for renderings”, and since the job opening is for a character artist, it’s more than likely the million polygon models refers to character models.
If this is true, I don’t have words to explain how amazing PS4 games will look. Remember God of War III? Well, said game used just 20,000 polygons, and again, Uncharted 2 used 30,000…
Another aspect which must be considered is the game they’re crafting for PS4 – is it Uncharted 4? It certainly isn’t The Last Of Us, as said game might be released this year, and early next for the latest – especially since Naughty Dog’s been working on it for the past two years.
It must be Uncharted 4….Drake’s Love Story..
Okay, the love story part is silly but my goodness! 1 million polygon models?

this kinda makes me want to buy a ps4 rather than just moving on…
I mean is this whole next gen console thing going to have games look better than the bests on PC? I doubt it but one million is a lot
Leave it up to ND to show the full power of any system they work on. Impressive stuffif it is in fact true.
all ill say is thank im not the poor soul working on that!
@ALL: Yeah, this is going to be one amazing piece of work. I’m guessing it’s Uncharted 4.
