PS Vita Sales Take Nose Dive In Japan, Down 57 Percent

Something’s gone terribly wrong with PS Vita in Japan, and we have no idea what it is. I mean, really, why’s the portable console performing so poorly in the region? Will it see the same fate in the U.S. and Europe? Sony must be a bit worried.

The week of January 15th, PS Vita managed a mere 18,361 units, only now bringing the portable machine past the 500,000 sold mark since it went on sale last November.

seriously disappointing device, ridiculously overpriced, stupid pain in the a$$ restrictions and lacklustre games, thats whats going on!
basically everything i said in my review.
as ive said a million times and will say again, the vita is too little too late!
yes its a amazing device, yes the games look beautiful, but SO WHAT!?
since when did amazing graphics become all we care about in our technology?
this notion of everything that has poor graphics sucks is driving me INSANE!
i swear to god if i hear one more person say this game sucks because it has poor graphics im sorry but i will not be held responsible for my actions!
and that is exactly why we have such a high request for classics, for HD remakes.
because current gen games are so focused on bringing us amazing graphics they forget the game design.

though back on topic.
$ony is famous for bringing out the absolute cutting edge tech, every time they release something it shows what the comp will be doing in 3 or so years time.
the vita, well, feels as up to date as a gramophone!
ok that was a exaggeration, so sue me!
this has made me really worried about the ps4.
i was starting to think with $onys remarks about the ps4 saying weve learnt our lessons, releasing last would be unfavourable, then the vita, its made me feel like there going to do the same thing with the ps4.
as in release a WP7 in the era of iphones.
outdated, and a pain in the a$$ to use, full of stupid restrictions!
$ony use to be the apple of the gaming industry, they brought to the world what others would in 3 or so years time.
now they have turned into M$, sitting back then copying everyone and arriving to the party years late with a meh outdated product.
cough Xperia play, and their tablets.
the xperia play is the same price as the iphone 4S, so why does it have SOOOOOOOOOOOO much less power and capabilities?
talk about bringing a knife to a gun fight.
i really, really, REALLY dont want this to happen, i really want the ps4 to be exactly what everything $ony use to be.
IE amazingly ahead of its time, not amazingly outdated.
if i want a cheap outdated product $ony will be the last place i look, so i just wish they would stop trying to break into that market!
you dont see B&W or bose trying to steal away from logitech making $5 speakers now do you?
so why are $ony?
there a premium company, always have been, so why change?
yea there in debt but making cheap outdated products is not going to change that!
all they need to do is have the quality they had 6 years ago, and the ambition.
6 years ago $ony was king of the tree, everything they made whether id be Xploid in their speakers, or Bravia with their TVs, Ericsson with their phones, or playstation with gaming devices.
they were ALWAYS the tip of the tree, the top company in their category.
they use to be among the highest quality company you could find.
ever since the ps3 came out though and sent them broke they have cut corners and in doing so only made a small hill into 20 times the hight of Everest!

You know, I must say I agree with most of what you said. But the Vita is still ahead of the portable competition. 3DS had a rough start too, and it’s only after Ninty cut the price did sales pick up. Also, Vita’s tech is miles ahead of 3DS’s, and includes way for features and is NOT region locked like 3DS. Before making such bold claims, I would look at the competition if I were you. Sony’s worked really hard to make Vita the go-to hardcore portable gaming device for the hardcore and ever the casual.

i fail to see what the big problem with the device is nick, like the only concern should be if it has good games. it seems your more concerned with the technology itself rather than games. i mean i don’t think anyone should be expecting some mass variety of games at launch. like every system launch theirs a couple of good games and some shovelware. sooooooooo….. whats the big deal.

absolutely its ahead of the competition, but that does not mean its not out of date.
if all the car manufactures decide ok were no longer making modern cars were going back to the basic ways they were originally made does that mean there now cutting edge?
vita is only the most powerful system out there because its only competition is ninty, and there never the most powerful of anything!
