Modern Warfare 3 Fails To Top Black Ops In UK Sales War

Black Ops

Although Modern Warfare 3 was the bestselling game in the UK last year, it failed to topple Call of Duty Black Ops numbers, falling short by 13.83 percent.

Modern Warfare 3 sold 2,814,609 copies in the UK between its November 8th release and December 31st, 2011, while Call Of Duty: Black Ops sold a massive 3,266,298 copies during the same period in 2010, a difference of 451,789 copies.

Why the drop? It’s most likely due to UK games market dropping 13 percent in 2011 compared to 2010. In fact EA’s FIFA 2012 suffered the same fate, selling 2,193,302 in 2011, 196,929 copies less than FIFA 2011.

Maybe people are catching on to the fact that not much has changed?

That too. I think it’s a mixture of fatigue and a poor games economy.

interesting! and yeah i agree with both of you, Both games appeared to have little changes, well FIFA 12 totally re worked the defensive aspect of the game, but still its a game that comes out every year.
But still nearly 3million copies out of a population of 65, thats 4.6% of the whole population, that includes every child, granny, tramp etc bought a copy of MW3!!
Can the U.S / Canada boast a similar percentage?
