Bungie Apple – What Does It Mean?

Bungie Apple – What Does It Mean?

Yes you read the title correctly. Since it’s split with Microsoft the gaming world has been in speculation about what the future of the now legendary developer Bungie would be. In April 2010 Bungie announced it was signing a 10 publishing agreement with Activision Blizzard to bring new IP’s to multiple platforms. Bungie however just uploaded a short video to youtube that might suggest an unluckily new business partner, Apple.

The very short video shows an early model of Master Chief holding up a Bungie flag with the Apple logo glowing on top. The video has no audio, is in low quality and has no description. The most intriguing part is the title “Bungie Apple”.

See the video for yourself bellow.

There is no mention of why this video was uploaded in any Bungie blogs or Bungie.net. The purpose of this video will therefore have to be left down to our own speculation. The footage looks like very early footage of Halo when it was due to be released exclusively on Apple systems. If it is simply old footage from Bungie’s past then why upload it now in such a suspicious manor.

I will leave you to make your own opinions on why Bungie has released this video but the sad truth is that Halo will almost certainly never make it’s way onto an Apple system. Microsoft owns the rights to the Halo franchise and will therefore not allow for it’s biggest rival to cash in on one of it’s most recognised and profitable franchises.

So then, why did Bungie upload this most intriguing video?

This looks like the old video when halo was first shown. Halo was originally suppose to be an Apple exclusive RTS style game, but MS spent the big bucks and bought the rights and turned it into what we know as Halo today. Because of the video quality and graphics, it looks like it is from the original reveal of the game.

here is a link to that reveal at Macworld 1999.
