Quenchables: In 2012, PS3 Will Aim At The Young But “Core Gamers” Won’t Be Forgotten

ps3amazing1

Quick, quenchable quotes concerning Sony’s 2012 PS3 strategy from SCEE boss Jim Ryan.

“I think you’ll see us taking the console more towards a slightly younger demographic. More family market. The core gamer will absolutely not be neglected.

There’s going to be tons of great stuff for the core gamer but from our own studio, third parties there’s some quite interesting stuff happening in a number of areas which would allow us to open up a market that we accessed pretty successfully on both PS1 and PS3 but haven’t yet got to on PS3.

If you look back at the history on PS1, PS2 the vast majority of the business that we did on both those platforms was done at the sub £129 price points. Now we’ve only got to £199 in the UK a couple of month back so you can see there’s still a lot of PS3’s potentially to be sold.”

Thanks, OPM UK.

god, like we needed more proof that $ony is turning into ninty!
i smell another crappy playstation move heroes atrocity…….
or even ape escape, what the hell have they done to one of there biggest best exclusives!?
could of been the title to buy a move for, but no they had to turn it into a crappy kids mini game compilation.
god, first M$ turns into ninty, and now $ony.
    whos next?
god help us, were going to have to rely on ninty for all our core games now!
    shudder…………..

Well, you know, we’re not the only ones with PS3s….or the only ones who should own it….why not a younger crowd?

catering to a younger crowd is fine, why do they have to destroy our beloved franchises?
thats one thing ill never understand, $E get the sewers hurled at them for what they did to FFXIII, but what $ony has done to ape escape, or playstation move heroes, or even R&C all 4 one eh who cares.
catering to the casual market is one thing, humiliating and degrading beloved franchises is another.
