Sony Live Action Teaser Trailer Promoting PSN Revamp?

The teaser trailer Sony released about two days ago showing many PlayStation characters conversing and entering a room might be a PSN revamp that comes with cross-game chat and cross-video chat, amongst other things.

Many suggested the live action trailer would be a PlayStation Home revamp, but Sony recently shared that the virtual reality space would see its latest update, version 1.55, today September 29th so it’s obviously not a HOME reboot.

0:13 — Helghast (Killzone) eyes in the background
0:16 — trademark siren from the Resistance series
0:22 Sweet Tooth’s theme and truck (Twisted Metal),
0:25 — “Vivat Ludus Long” = Latin for “Long Live Play”,
0:26 MK II (from Metal Gear Solid 4) as well as a PS logo above the booth,
0:30 — poster on the wall with various PS1 classics,
0:35 — Prize bubble (from LittleBigPlanet),
0:39 — Weapons from Killzone, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy XIII and other franchises,
0:51 Kratos shadow in the background

It’s clear that whatever the reveal is it’ll have something to do with connectivity, you know, players connecting with each other. And I doubt it’s Vita related because said reveal would have been done at TGS, where Vita was Sony’s main focus. I’m really starting to thing Sony’s about to set the place ablaze with a massive PSN reboot that would see the venerable service come ready with long-called for features like cross-game chat and probably giving us Avatars a la Xbox Live.

October 5th it is, then. What do you guys think?

Thanks, Gamersmint.

i’m thinkin its cross game chat, i mean all the sony characters from different franchises are all chattin it up in one room kinda odd. i know they said the reason why theres been no cross game chat, but lately i heard sony’s getting rid of game sharing in order to make room for cross game chat

    dont hold your breath.
when the companies CEO comes out and says it cant be done im pretty sure hes not just saying that so a future announcement would be more surprising.
my moneys still on a release date for the vita, something they did not do at TGS becuase that would take away from the whole point of TGS which is the JP market.
i hope it is a vita release date, its only 10 days before the preorders for the JP version open up so we need to know the release dates for every other region by then!

I don’t know, Nick. A Vita release date? I don’t know how that meshes with the live action vid. I’m going with Ghost. Cross-game chat, PSN relaunch.

I doubt it will be cross game chat…And what is the big deal with such a pointless feature anyways.

    It’s not a pointless feature.
