id Software: “Rage Is The New Awesomeness”

by Ernice Gilbert on September 29th, 2011, under Bethesda, FPS, Hot, News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

id Software’s no stranger to developing big and critically acclaimed games. The firm’s is responsible for some of the biggest titles ever. Think DOOM, the “god-father” of first-person shooters, or Quake. But although all the aforementioned are great, RAGE is what’s hot, says the dev.

Speaking at Sydney’s world-renowned Opera House, the entire id Software team was present to talk mostly about one game: RAGE, and although many things were touched upon, including the importance of story, and how id software invented the game mode Team Deathmatch, it was the end statement that made me smile.

“Doom was the father of first-person shooters,” creative director Tim Willits said in closing. “Quake was the father of awesomeness, and I think Rage… is the new awesomeness.”

It’s out Tuesday in the U.S., and next Friday in Europe. Expect a review.
