Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has confessed what many fans have known for a long time. Final Fantasy is on a downward spiral, and is in desperate need of saving.
The exec simply said “The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged,” while speaking at a press conference in Japan this morning, and was asked about Final Fantasy XIV.
The firm would not give up on the brand, however, adding they’d “continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released.”
Final Fantasy XIV saw a release on PC last September, and was the poorest selling title in the longstanding franchise, and was also the recipient of many disgraceful scores, including a 4/10 from Gamespot.
There was a PS3 version of the game under development, but that too’s gone dead.
Thanks, Andriasang.
