Over the weekend, Kotaku ran a rumor claiming Visceral Games AU, the Australian branch of the Dead Space developer, was to shut its doors come Monday. Well today’s come and gone and the closure has happened indeed.
“Confirmation of EA closing Visceral has been received
our best wishes to the 21 devs now out of a job #EAVisceral,” read a tweet from the closing branch.
The EA-owned studio was working on a triple A title for PS3 and 360, but once the game was canned, there was nothing left to do. Now about 21 developers are out of a job, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
Visceral’s Melbourne studio helped with titles such as Dead Space, Godfather 2, and Dante’s Inferno.
We hope they find work soon.

god speed lads!
maybe they can go work for the unlimited detail team, thats apparently where allot of the guys from team bondi, THQ AU and bluetounge studios are going.
they had a massive 4 page article on it in gameinformer this month, i have to admit the screenshots are freaking amazing!
seeing them just leaves you speechless!
best part about it is since your using voxels instead of polygons you need ALOT less to get the same detail or better so it actually runs on really old slow PCs.
so many benefits!
1 better graphics.
2 much easier to implement then polygons.
3 much shorter development time.
4 reduced team sizes.
all adding up to a cheaper game to make, AND more importantly a better game!
so…….. where do i sign up!?
When are you graduating?
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
nah, hopefully 3 more years and ill be done.
depends what i want to do.
dunno if i should do 3D animation and a few other modelling courses or if i should stick to my programming stuff and thats it.
im really interested to learn how to do 3D modelling and meshes all the MAYA crap, but im not sure if my maths is good enough, and i dont want to put 4 years into a course and not do well in it.
Okay good. You’ll be an awesome developer!
