SE’s revealed its new gaming engine dubbed Luminous, a machine built for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and also next-gen consoles.
Square says since Luminous supports programmable shaders, games for PS Vita and Wii U will be easy to handle. The publisher’s also looking into options for Wii and 3DS which don’t support programmable shaders.
The Direct X 11 native engine will only be available to SE-owned companies including Eidos and others, while IO Interactive and Crystal Dynamics will continue to use the Glacier 2 and CDC Engines, respectively.
