EA Scandal Continues, Revises Origin EULA, Still Will Scan Your Computer For All Personal Information

In light of the massive scandal that’s now EA’s online service dubbed Origin, one which collects all information on your computer as soon as you accept its terms and conditions, the publisher’s revised the European version of the service, saying it no longer will sell your information to third parties, but will still collect all your clean and dirty laundry.

According to the new version, EA can still collect: “nonpersonally identifiable (or anonymous) information for purposes of improving our products and services, providing services to you, facilitating the provision of software updates, dynamically served content and product support as well as communicating with you. The non-personally identifiable information that EA collects includes technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address) and operating system, as well as information about your Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware.”

The EULA revised version of the terms and conditions goes on to state that EA knows that customers “care how information,” is collected, used and shared, it appreciates that those installing Origin are trusting it to “do so carefully and sensibly,” and it would “never sell your personally identifiable information to anyone, nor would it ever use spyware or install spyware on users’ machines.”

Thanks, VG247.
