Wii wasn’t Valve’s thing, but Wii U “fits better†into the firm’s “scalability model”, therefore the developer’s interest in Nintendo’s new console is high.
Gabe Newell said today at New York’s Games for Change Festival that since they’ve moved from being a PC-only developer, to Xbox 360 and recently PS3, developing for Wii U will be easy for them as it will fit “within that framework.â€
“Wii U seems to be a lot more powerful than the previous generation,” said Newell. “It sort of fits better into the scalability in terms of graphics performance and CPU performance, so I think it’ll be a lot easier for us to fit it into our scalability model.
We’ve always loved Nintendo. Now it’s a lot easier to look at Wii U and have it fit within that framework.”
Valve’s latest game, Portal 2, has already sold over 3 million copies, and it’s only been out for two months.
