Anonymous Leaves Gaming Behind, Targets Federal Reserve And Bernanke

While Lulz Sec has set its sights on the gaming industry, hacking Sony, Nintendo, Bethesda, Minecraft, Eve Online and League Of Legends in the span of two weeks, the group that started the trend is saying goodbye to hacking companies in the gaming industry and has set its sights on the Federal Reserve and its boss Ben Bernanke.

In a YouTube video posted over the weekend, Anonymous details its newest mission dubbed “Operation Empire State Rebellion,” and with it a laundry list of ways the Federal Reserve has failed the American People, driving the economy to nought.

According to the hacktivist group, the Federal Reserve has “deliberately driven tens of millions of people into poverty,” creating policies that are “systematically looting the country to enrich one-tenth of one-percent of the population.”

Anonymous singles out the so-called “too big to fail banks”, as it tries to garner support by adding: “We cannot remain passive while our future is going up in flames.”

The Operation was set to commence yesterday, most likely beginning with denial of service (DDOS) attacks on government owned websites, but to add to its efforts, the group is encouraging supporters to organize planned sit-ins at public spaces “until Bernanke steps down.”

The video, titled “Control+Alt+Bernanke” (pressing Control+Alt+Delete is the command to shut down a program on a Windows system) has been viewed over 200,000 times.

All this in the wake of three Anonymous members getting arrested in Spain recently, and Turkey in more recent times. Yet, I have to think that this is more of valiant effort that hacking gaming.
