THQ’s said in a statement today that it has made a “strategic realignment within its internal studio structure and is in the process of closing two locations: the company’s UK studio and Kaos studio in New York.]”
That’s what the firm confirmed to Develop just moments ago, after the site had reported THQ was in the process of shutting down the developer.
Kaos’ UK studio in Warrington, which was behind Red Faction: Battlegrounds and the recently-announced Warhammer 40k: Kill Team, is also likely to close, giving over 40 staffers notices of impending layoffs.
THQ’s Montreal studio “will take over product development and overall creative management for the Homefront franchise.”
The latter studio will work on one new IP as well as an option to work on another one or an existing IP, with Dave Gatchel and former Assassin’s Creed head Patrice Désilets, being overlord of the respective teams. He joined the studio just today.
