At Microsoft’s press conference, the first game demoed was Modern Warfare 3, showing off a heart-thumping mission which ultimately ends with a high-speed boat chase. Say what you will about the game, but the presentation was nicely put and well executed.
DICE’s Battlefield 3 Thunder Run Tank Gameplay on the other hand was rather boring. You’re seen controlling a tank on this very long desert field, shooting after enemy positions until you arrive at a certain destination. Very long and very boring. I thought EA and DICE would have brought their best to E3, including some console footage of the game, instead what we saw was the game running on PCs the size of a house, showing off top-notch visuals, obviously.
And that’s another thing, the media’s bought into this belief that Battlefield 3 will be unlike any other game we’ve seen in the visual department, but what they fail to make mention of is that we haven’t seen what the game looks like on consoles. And although I’m sure it’ll look good, this current generation of consoles cannot render what we’re seeing on PC from Battlefield 3. It’s almost like this big deception.
Anyway, watch for yourself and share your thoughts.
