Codemasters, the developer behind many great titles including Dirt 3, has confirmed that it’s website has suffered an “attack” and “intrusion” last Saturday. Sad part is, personal information has been compromised.
The developer took down the site itself, and visiting now will redirect you to its Facebook page. Also, VIP code redemption for DiRT 3 and the Codemasters eStore has also been taken down.
“We advise you to change any passwords you have associated with other Codemasters accounts,” the firm said in a statement sent out to the press today.
As for compromised data, they include names, physical addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, encrypted passwords, order history for eStore, user names of Codemasters accounts, IP addresses and gamertags of Xbox Live users.
Whether credit card information was stolen is yet unclear, however due to the eStore not being on the servers that were hacked, it seems said information might have steered clear of the breach.
sigh.
these companies need to start hiring security technicians to try help and prevent this.
thats the problem allot of companies dont have the required staff to deal with these things, and this is what happens.
So much for hackers….I tell ya.
