All over the internet, you’ll hear the same cry: Microsoft has forgotten the hardcore and turned Xbox 360 into a Kinect circus. Is this accusation true? Too many it is, but to the company’s Xbox UK boss Stephen McGill, that’s quiet a lie, as he assures the hardcore will never be left behind.
That’s what he said while speaking in an interview with VG247, adding that it’s their “heritage” to cater to the core gamers. When asked about the accusations, McGill said:
“I think it’s always a challenge when… you know, we’ve been showing off Gears 3 for quite a while now,” he said. “So we sort of tease them with a little more information – announce some things, but we’ve got plenty more to announce in the coming hours and days.”
“Probably the challenge we have with our show is that it’s 90 minutes, and we’ve got a lot to say. So literally, every kind of topic that we have gets 90 seconds. Maybe two minutes. And you know, we’re an entertainment company.”
He added: “We’re servicing the core gamers. That’s our heritage. We will never leave them behind. We showed a lot of amazing content for them at the showcase.”

I am getting really frustrated with these MS executives. Every time they are confronted with the question “Are you abandoning the core gamer?” Their rebuttal is always look at Gears 3. What pisses me off about that answer is that they have been saying it for over a year, and the game should already be out. This is E3. You should not have to reference a game that was announced over a year ago to say that you are not abandoning the core. Then there is the statement, we have COD and all the other Multiplats and that is all we need. Well PS3 owners are getting all those same multiplats on top of one of the most stout exclusive lineups. Also, they always make the excuse “we do not have time in the conference and we only have 90 seconds a game.” If that is the case then why did i see a 5 minuted demo of COD, Tomb Raider, Ghost Recon Kinect feature, Mass Effect Kinect feature and many more kinect things, but when they made an announcement for an exclusive core title, it consisted of a 90sec. trailer. If you spent half the time talking about core titles and half on kinect, i might believe you, but MS spent 90% on kinect and 8% on multiplats and 2% on exclusive core titles which consisted of Halo, and don’t get me wrong, I love Halo, but I want something more. The E3 show should be showing off what I can only get on your console and it should be a variety of things. I do not like Kinect but I know there are people out there that do and it is fine with me if you show off some new kinect stuff at the show, but show off core stuff equally as well.
so thats why they have dedicated there last 3 E3 pressers to 99% kinect?
what happened to the M$ who was infamous for bringing third party exclusives?
so many original xbox exclusives screaming out for new iterations!
if showing off 3 core titles, and 100 casual titles per year does not mean your abandoning the core market then i dont know what is!
on there are some core exclusives, but 3 for one year?

whats really worrying is they have so many new features for their new update, so why did they just show off bing?
why not show off the new cloud based saves feature?
M$ cares as much for the core market as i care of kinect games.
come on M$, we did not spend 400+ bucks on that console so we can be flailing our arms around like escaped mental patients!
