Sony: PS Vita Will Be Profitable On Day One

At its press conference on Monday, Sony unveiled for the world PS Vita, coming with a plethora of games and a very good price point. The base model will retail for $249.99 in the U.S., however many analysts thought Sony would not be able to sell the device at that price because it would be too costly. They were wrong, because not only is Sony able to sell the handheld console at the reasonable price, they’ll be making a profit on it from day one.

Speaking to GameTrailers in a recent interview, Senior VP of SCEA Scott Rohde said that they’ll do “well” with PS Vita.

“I think that we’re going to do very well with this,” he said. “And this price point – it’s also not going to lose money for us on day one. We’re going to do well with this thing.”

Sony’s learnt many a lesson ever since launching the PS3 for $599, and that’s a good thing.
