Infinity Ward: We’ve Moved Beyond The Modern Warfare 2 Engine

Infinity Ward has just answered the question that’s been nagging at gamers for a while: Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 using the same old engine of its predecessor? The answer to that is no.

That’s according to the developer’s community manager Robert Bowling via twitter. News I’m sure diehard fans of the series will welcome.

“We haven’t gone into detail on the engine yet but we’ve moved beyond the MW2 engine and added a lot of cool stuff for MW3,” he said.

Rumor has it MW3 will feature lots of destruction just like competitor Battlefield 3. The latest trailer which, according to Bowling, will feature “plenty of gameplay”, goes live tomorrow.

We’ll keep you posted.

Thanks, NowGamer.

it is the same, just tweaked.
i wonder if they will put physX and cloth tessellation in there.
there 2 things that really impressed me with mafia 2.
just watching people shoot the walls and see bullet holes in everything and debris on the floor and dust in the air.
    was really cool!
