We leaked the GameInformer score onto the internet a few days ago, now a whole host of L.A. Noire reviews have gone live. What’s the verdict, you ask? According to all the sites, the game’s all kinds of awesome.
Here’s Destructoid’s closing remarks:
“L.A. Noire is a testament to the possibility of bringing dark, adult, mature games to the mainstream market. When I say mature, I don’t just mean that it throws in sex and violence under the pretense of being for grown-ups. It is truly mature, with the kind of narrative you’d only expect to see in a major TV drama series or crime movie. No game released this generation has tackled the subject matter found in L.A. Noire with the same degree of intelligence and respect, and no game has so seamlessly blended gameplay from various genres together so seamlessly, in a way that delivers something far more unique in experience than the sum of its parts.
Add that sense of uniqueness and intelligence to the fact that L.A. Noire is a terrific bloody videogame, and you have what is guaranteed to be a classic for years to come. True maturity and narrative depth in mainstream gaming begins right here.”

Video Thirst: Gamespot’s Review

disappointed to hear that no matter how you do, the story goes on.
whats the point of that?
thats one thing thats holding back the industry, developers are babysitting people too much.
ok having your actions effect the story could end up alienating people into stopping play, but so what?
this is suppose to be about the tale of a cop and his rise through the ranks.
last time i checked if you screw up a case, your chief is not exactly going to keep you on cases, or promoting you.
shame, looks like thats the only piece holding the game back.
so disappointing when something so small and simple holds back a game from perfection!
I agree with you wholly.
im really shocked by that, i was under the impression if you get a case wrong the game changes and reflects that.

but it does not, the game continues as if you got it right.
now thats just stupid!
ok, i can see why they did it, but come on!
this is not a game, this is suppose to make you feel like a cop in those times.
they went to all that hard work doing research to get period accurate crimes, venues, cars, but then spoil it with the detective work.
shame, all that hard work down the drain!
i wish we could wake up these people and stop this, enough of this hand holding for the sake of a few extra sales!
it would of been really interesting to see what happens if you lock up the wrong person, but with it like this it just destroys it.
wheres the pressure, the incentive to go back and get it right?
