Update 2: There has been many conflicting stories about PSN being up in Japan, but we finally have conformation that it is not up. According to Gamersmint, PSN is not up in Japan. They were able to talk to Jonathan Fargher at Sony who confirmed that it is not back up, but they will begin a “phased roll out” over the week.
Update 1: If you’re trying to login with your Japanese account, you will not get through, as a new firmware update has been issued.
Original Story: Just like clockwork, we’re getting reports from various twitter and Facebook feeds that the PlayStation Network in Japan has already been turned on, and gamers there are currently enjoying online gaming and other PSN features.
That’s according to VGamers.
As for the US and EU, we’ll see the service come back on this week, maybe on Tuesday, so we all should sit tight. I’ll try to login with my JP account to see if anything happens.
Big news, but this is expected.

apparently its not.

anyway, store wont be up till later in the month so its useless to me.
mixed reports. I hope it comes on here today.
it is, i read a article saying people are trying to sign in and they cant using a JP account.
then they updated the story saying those who could not were only using a JP account there not actually in JP.
theres a new mandatory FW update and thats why they could not sign in because there ps3 is seeing the latest FW is installed when its not, thus making it look like PSN is still down.
so hopefully tomorrow by wednesday will have it back.
It’s confirmed, Nick. New reports are coming in. Sony’s said some parts of JP have gone live, and US and EU coming next as they roll it out region-by-region.
How about some linkage?
Doesn’t everyone like to have evidence?

That isn’t confirmation, that is the same story being recycled.
