Mortal Kombat Reviews Hit, Game’s A Gory Hit

Today’s the day of game reviews, it seems, as two of the industry’s most prominent titles see releases as we speak, and the reviews for them have gone live. But unlike SOCOM 4 and Homefront which received mostly lower-than-expected scores, today’s reviews are praising examples of success.

Portal’s reviews are already live, and now it’s Mortal Kombat’s turn. What’s the verdict, you ask? Well according to most outlets, the game’s a gory success.

    Haven’t received your copy? lol

  • foxton

i downloaded the demo of this, as fun as it was do you really see this as a game that has reasonable lastibility? i mean there only so much you can do in a beat em up. I doubt the online will have much lastibility either. This is one game i will buy eventually, however it will be 2nd hand or in 6 months time when its half the price!

Good point. But although it might not have all that replay value, fans will gobble it up at retail. Expect it to be the best selling fighting game in the U.S. this year…

  • foxton

that may be so but there will be little competition. Fight Night? Marvel capcom? DC online? the fact that its been so anticipated will help boost the sales but ultimatley i fear it will be another middle of the road game like Street fighter a couple of years ago. These types of games are a dying breed IMO, yeah huge back in the days of mega drives when consoles limited to what you could achieve, however in todays world of gaming most people would expect alot more out of their console and £40 game.

I agree with you completely. Yet there are gamers who just love the simple fun of being able to press a few buttons to accomplish a world of damage, and who don’t really care about all the other flares of gaming….But to each his own, and like you said, as we move forward, some games will get left behind. I doubt, however, that MK will be one of them.

  • foxton

yeah true. I feel that it may need to adapt tho, but we will see. I agree completely that it will achieve high sales. PS noticed your still playing KZ3? im hooked on crysis 2 mp however couldnt resist some kz2 action last night!!!

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

lol! Yeah I am. Still think it’s the absolute best mp out there man.. But that’s just me.. Some of my friends and I get on there and do massive damage! I love it! You’ve traded in your copy already, right>?

  • foxton

yeah traded in KZ3 for £25 and Black ops for £22. If they release a patch to allow ranked games that enable extended mission modes and weapon diabilities (i.e pistol only like kz2) then ill be back on it but untill then id rather play kz2

    Understood.
