id Software are not to be taken as simple boys and girls, the developer singlehandedly invented the first-person shooter genre with DOOM. But we’ve yet to see another game in the venerable franchise for a good amount of years, but don’t worry, because when DOOM 4 arrives, you’ll truly love it.
“[DOOM 4] is going great. It’s awesome,” id’s design director Matt Hooper said.
“We have so many talented people, and as a company we’ve grown so much. But we’ve been able to keep them [the Doom 4 and Rage development teams] separate.
With Rage we’re concentrating on making our game as good as it can be. Those guys support us in whatever way they can. And we’ll do the same for them.”
DOOM 4 will see releases on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously and was expected to be demoed at last year’s QuakeCon, however it was a no-show. According to the dev, they didn’t want to show something that was not yet ready.
No release date has been pinned.
