EA Sports To Give Us Persistent Profiles

EA Sports looks set to give us persistent profiles. In a move that makes a huge chunk of sense, the firm will let us develop our in games teams for longer.

EA sports President Peter Moore is quoted as saying “It’s no longer buy Madden 11 and then buy Madden 12 and start from scratch, It takes everything that you’ve done and migrate it and move it along.”

As an avid sports fan, I never did understand why this was not an option in sports games. The ability to take your offline league standing and player progress and put them in the new and improved version, sounds great!!

Reading between the lines, one would think this is a master stroke to encourage brand loyalty. My point being, would you take your favourite NFL team that you have nurtured for 3 years and ditch them for a different brand and start anew?

What do you guys think? Is this a welcome step in the right direction? On the other hand, is beating the game with all the new bells and whistles that the new iteration of your favourite sports game has more important?
