Max Payne 2 was featured in the latest issue of Edge Magazine after Rockstar released 2 screens last week, following a 2yr hiatus. Tons of info to quench, including multiplayer and the main protagonist’s new look.
In the scans, the protagonist is shown with hair, giving him a more mature look compared to the images released two years ago – where he was dirty and fat. In the latest scans, however, hair’s all over the Max’s face, telling of his distress.
Throughout the game, Max won’t keep the same look (different missions to carry out I suppose) as some levels he’ll have a “full head of hair” – and he “isn’t the booze-soaked hulk we’d been led to expect.”
Payne’s no longer in New York as was the scenario in the second game, but instead his trip takes him to Brazil, where he struggles with alcoholism.
Four of Rockstar’s studios have joined hands to bring this latest effort to fruition. They include – Vancouver who’s still involved from before, but now New England, Toronto and London have joined to make it a great one.
Max Payne 3′s art director, Rob Nelson, said: “We have a lot of talented people across all our studios and this just means we can bring the right people in for a specific task when needed – and it gives the games a consistant level of quality and an approach that’s Rockstar.”
Destruction is full realized in Max Payne 3, as Environments are fully destructible; and we’ll see a wheel-based weapon selection window; and a new cover system will use scenic objects. Also, bullet-time will be charged up by killing enemies.
The comic-like panels from the first two installments are back, but according to the Edge piece: “These dramatic plot pointers use the in-game engine and show an animated collage of action footage.”
According to the mag, Hundreds of hours of mo-cap footage have also been recorded, which has been mashed with the Euphoria engine to make characters which will interact with the environments realistically and accurately.
Max Payne’s voice from the first two games, James McCafferty, makes a return. Only this time he plays a “fuller role”.
We now know it’ll feature multiplayer, but to what extent is yet unknown.

I don’t care what he looks like as a long as the games good.
And multiplayer can’t ever be a bad thing as long as it doesn’t take away from the singleplayer. I’m looking forward to this, it’s gotta be better than the movie anyway lol.
Yeah, lol. That movie wasn’t much of a movie. But I’m excited for all this!
I’m liking what I see thus far.
im starting to get worried about this!
R*s tweet today of a “sophisticated” max payne is just plain wrong!
