According to a new set of sales figures, Sony’s PSP dominated the Japanese videogames market in 2010, beating out the Wii, DS, and all other consoles.
The report, per Andriasang, shows that Sony’s handheld sold 2,640,499 to beat out the DS – which sold 2,523,142 gaining the number one spot on the sales chart.
PS3′s performance was also strong, with the venerable console edging out the Wii as it sold a total of 1,407,126.

I’ve always wondered why doesn’t the Xbox 360 perform better in Japan. I know it’s Sony’s home turf and all, but it’s just strange that Redmond is unable to even dent Sony and Nintendo’s dominance there.
cant believe how well its selling considering how many games the PSP gets!
i mean the last must have game it received was GoS last year!
plus last year, that and MGS peace walker were really the only 2 must have games for the system!
i could count the must have PSP games on one hand!
i hope sony dont do the same with the NGP and give us games we can play on our ps3, we need something different!
need some new IPs to go with all the sequels and remakes of ps3 games.
PSP is king over there… It even outsold the 3DS last week I think…crazy. Imagine when NGP lands…
