Still at number one on gamer’s most anticipated list is Epic Games’ Gears of War 3, as Ipsos releases the results from its monthly Gameplan Insights survey. Other games that moved up on the list include Mortal Kombat and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
According to Nick Williams, director of Gaming Insights at Ipsos, “Mortal Kombat continues to impress in the U.S. market….Despite the strong purchase intent for Mortal Kombat, it ranks a bit lower in the Recession Proof Index which is based on gamers top three choice,” he told Gamasutra.
“This suggests that some gamers might be unsure of what to expect from the new Mortal Kombat, and we will be closely monitoring all metrics leading up to the launch in April.”
In the UK, Uncharted 3 saw a huge leap from seventh to second, an occurrence that took place after Naughty Dog released footage of the game.
“While Gears of War 3 firmly retains its spot at the top of the US and UK March tracking charts, there are a number of upcoming releases that are looking to close the gap,” Williams continued. “Most notably, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception surged from seventh to second in the UK and 12th to eighth in the U.S. following the release of new footage from Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated sequel.”
Diablo III in the US and SWTOR also represented for the PC, as the platform seems to be making a comeback.
“While it would be easy to think that the traditional PC market is shrinking due to the popularity of free online games, this data suggests that there is still a large and vocal market eagerly awaiting high quality full-priced PC games,” Williams uttered. “Star Wars: The Old Republic is another example of a PC game that performs well in the Recession Proof Index.”

Thanks for that! I told my brother to return my KZ3, so I can finally play it, and it looks like he has to purchase a new one for me. This is why I never let children close to my toys. Once they start walking and getting teeth….the higher up you put your stuff.

I just ordered it…again…from Amazon. My brother pays for Amazon Prime so I get the $3.99 Next Day shipping. It said that it will be delivered tomorrow. Must be going USPS? Usually, when I order next day, on a Friday, it comes UPS on Monday. BONUS! We shall see if I can get the hang of KZ3 MP?
