Xbox 360 hasn’t seen a price cut since Sony slashed the price of the PS3, but all that’s about to change if Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst, Michael Pachter, is to be believed. He said come E3 2011, Microsoft will cut the price of its next gen console, and that Nintendo and Sony will “rapidly follow suit”.
That’s what he said in a note today, adding that consumer interest in Wii is rapidly falling.
“We expect Microsoft to announce a price cut at this year’s E3 Expo in June, and expect Sony and Nintendo to rapidly follow suit,” he said.
“Demand for the Wii appears to us to be fading, and we think that a price cut is long overdue. However, this time around, Sony has a motion control scheme of its own with Move, which is off to a very tepid start. We think that Move’s lack of traction in the marketplace is due mostly to the high price point for a system bundle ($399).
On the other hand. Microsoft’s motion control system, Kinect, has had a breathtaking start, with over 8 million units sold in the first three months.
We believe that Microsoft is in the driver’s seat on pricing, and believe that the company may consider a price cut for the core console plus Kinect to under $300 in June, which could allow it to extend its monthly sales lead throughout 2011.

Okay checking it out now.
would not surprise me.
perfect timing, just before gears 3 releases.
they need something, there not showing many games so a price cut would help swing the light back onto them.
i just wish they would stop with the kinect obsession!
leave it alone, let third party developers play around with it, let ubisoft put out as many fitness games they can on it, and give your fans the hardcore games they bought the system for!
2005,2006 they were kicking serious ass!
so wish prey 2 would come out, prey is still one of my favorite 360 exclusives!
they need to get rare off kinect too, using such a historically proven studio on that crap is the biggest injustice the world has ever seen!
Good point on Square. I can’t believe MS turned the dev into this……Kinect developing nonesense…
