The core fight is where you start from when developing a game, not what you would consider the finished product. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Black Ops, and Killzone 3 just to name a few are games with just as much competition as MVC3 yet they have the story and content to garner their full price tag. It doesn't matter if they are fighting games or not. I expect more from my fighting games, a story shouldn't be a bonus at this point it should be mandatory. So what if SSFIV was easy? At least it had more content which was my main point with the whole review. MVC3 is NOT in any way worth the $70 dollar price tag it currently holds. What I see in MVC3 is a game that should be on the XBLA or PSN, not in stores. It's basically, to me, the Halo 3: ODST of fighting games. A full priced game that doesn't feel like a full priced game.

What score would you give it, Ghost? I've always loved the series, and thought it deserved more than 6/10 but whatever. Love it still.

i gonna have to disagree with this review. first off you mention how great ssfiv was , now i dont know if your being sarcastic or being forreal but ssfiv sucks it is no doubt the easiest fighter to play this gen, people that compete competitively in fighting game tournaments would say the same thing. also i actually applaud capcom for making the game with a simple control mode, being an advent MVC player myself everyone knows that if your player using simple controls against the hardcore players such as myself using the dynamic controls you will most definitely get slaughtered in a match no questions asked. another thing you mention colton is that the story is lacking, in all honesty nobody plays MVC to play a story mode its basically a fighting game built entirely around competition the fact they even put somewhat of a story in game is just extra content in my opinion its not really story based like games such Mortal Kombat or Tekken. another thing you mention is the tutorial mode, like i said before this game is based around competition your not gonna have to moves on the screen with practicing just like you wont have them on screen when your in a real match, so they make the mode that way to test your ability to remember certain moves as if you were in a tournament setting, the only advice i can give you is to buy the strategy guide. a strategy guide for fighting games is always mandatory when trying to learn skill sets of characters. the only things i do agree with is the fact that capcom failed to include a tournament or spectator mode, its just another case of a company rushing out a game just to make a quick dollar unfortunately. you should of mentioned the fact of there being DLC already on the disc but you cant use it cause capcom is making player pay 5$ a pop for every new character.

shame.
crapcom have really hit rock bottom latley!
first DMC4, then RE5, then bionic commando, then lost planet 2, then bionic commando rearmed 2 and now this.
sigh, capcom what happened to you?
you use to be one of the best publishers out there, i could buy anything on the ps1 or ps2 with the capcom name and i knew it would be good.
now its the other way around!
how far Japanese developers have fallen!
maybe this will help them wake up and smell the coffee!
reason why crapcoms fallen so much is quality, but not only that, there trying to "westernize" their games, which is something their fans dont want.
$E doing the same thing, FFXIII.

Nice review. And I agree completely. For me, if a game does not have a good storyline to back it up, I'll lose interest fast. It was my only gripe with KZ3.

lol, I absolutely loved Soul Calibur 4. Nothing can save MvC3. Most of the fighting game pros do not even like it.

Maybe I'm just partial to games where you can customize hot girls..that's probably why I enjoyed Soul Calibur 4 more then I should have..

Tekken was the first game I bought for the ps1 and I have played all of them since then, and Tekken 6 is the worst one. It was not necessarily bad, but it was not near as good as the other games.

I really enjoy Tekken 6, but then again I haven't played any of the others so it was basically my entry point in to the franchise.

I agree with this review. I rented this game and was very excited for it, but after playing it for a couple hours, I have not put it back in. it joins Tekken 6 on the list of fighting games that have been totally ruined this gen.
