Modern Warfare Prequel Incoming?

It seems like the next Call Of Duty game that’s scheduled for release this year will see the franchise go back to times before the first Modern Warfare title, in a story detailing the journeys of favorite character, Ghost.

That’s according to a rumor in the UK Official PlayStation Magazine, claiming it has information regarding Modern Warfare 3 that will see the aforesaid take place.

According to the mag, (via CVG), “insider whispers” are suggesting “Infinity Ward’s next Modern Warfare title will be a prequel, with Ghost in the lead role.”

The same mag is rumoring that Dead Space 3 is already under development, and PS2 games will soon be available for download via your PSP – we’re guessing it’ll be NGP, however.

All interesting stuff, I must say. The most intriguing to me, though, is being able to play PS2 games from my soon-to-be new love: NGP.

OMG. If they enable PS2 game downloads via NGP then I really don’t see any competition for this handheld. I mean PS2′s game library is one of the most impressive of any console. E3 announcement then?

Yes indeed. An announcement of such magnitude would destroy E32011! Like you said, there would be no competition for it. Final Fantasy X on my NGP?!?!?! Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater!?!? Onimusha?!?! Madness.

    thats never going to happen.
if they enable ps2 games on the NGP then 1 thats going to destroy the sales of the collections, sony wont shoot themselves in the foot like that.
2 thats going to raise the question if the NGP can do it then why not the PS3?
unless the EE is inside the NGP which it wont because that would skyrocket the price i cant see it happening.
PCs today are still struggling to emulate ps2 games, so how the hells a handheld suppose to do it?
back on topic id like to see a prequel to COD, but not a prequel to the original a prequel to MW.
ive had enough of WW2 games, stick to the modern era would be a much better idea.

How would it destroy the collection? Sony’s about making money. Remember, they’re not releasing PS2 games on NGP for free, it’s for profit. So if they’re making big cash there, then forget collection. For them, it’s about profit.

yea but they cant charge the same what there charging for the collections.
if there available to download on the NGP then you really think people are going to buy them then buy the collections too?

Nope. But if they’re available on PS3, you really think people would buy them on NGP? Nope. It’s where the heat is, and I believe it’ll be with NGP – hence the reason to release those titles on it.
