Crytek: Crysis 2 On PS3 Looks And Runs The Same As The 360 Version

by Ernice Gilbert on February 17th, 2011, under Crytek, EA, Hot, News

This should end the speculation, then. Crytek’s executive producer Nathan Camarillo has openly said that their latest game, Crysis 2, runs exactly the same on PS3 as it does on Xbox 360. He said “other than the key prompts you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.”

That’s what the exec relayed while speaking to Gamerzines, adding he did not know why EA chose not to show off the game on PS3.

“No, not at all,” replied Camarillo when we asked by the site whether technical issues were the reasons why the PS3 version hasn’t been seen.

“It’s all ready to go. It looks just like the 360 version. Other than the key prompts you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.”

“The PS3 version runs the same as 360; 30 frames a second and in 3D, you know, everything. I don’t know why EA chose not to. I’m more than happy to show it.”

I’m starting to think EA and Sony probably had a conversation concerning Killzone 3, and the push Sony’s giving the game. If EA were to release a demo for Crysis 2 on PS3 now, it’d probably steal some thunder from Killzone 3, and maybe even a few sales.

What if it ends up looking better? That might not change our stance on KZ3, but it certainly will lesson the hype for many a gamer.

Later, though, I think we’ll see a Crysis 2 PS3 demo hit. Just give at least two weeks of Killzone 3 on the market and we should have our Crysis 2 fix.

Yeah, that must be what’s happening. Remember, EA and Sony have very good relationship. It’s the reason we now see Mass Effect 2 on PS3, with the third installment landing date and date as the Xbox 360 version. It’s also the reason we see Valve sleeping in bed with Sony. Just look at all the love Valve is showing PS3 owners with Portal 2. They’re basically giving away the PC version of the game just for buying it on PS3.

Yes, I do. The PS3′s install base is just too big to ignore. And the noted relationship EA has with Sony will make things easier. Left 4 Dead 2 might come bundled with Left 4 Dead 3 for PS3….

if L4D 2 comes to ps3 ill eat my hat!
sorry, but its never going to happen.
it should be roughly the same, they say that the console versions are the same as the PC version on low settings.
if thats true, its going to make KZ3 look like a ps2 game!
just the scale of the thing, its freaking massive!!!!!!!!

We’ll see. Killzone 3 surely looks awesome. Better than anything I’ve ever seen on consoles.
